STORY : 6 A STRANGE TOWER ST. Mariana George High School, Mid-Term….. You could understand how much tension would be on the students. Whatever, this is the original story of Mr. Peter Vanquenchill, a student of that studied then. His house was in the neighborhood of the school. Here he has explained us about his experiences that were strange. One night, when he was reading for his books for his exam next day, he heard, a very loud scream of a person as if he/she has been murdered, from the Queen Xaimurra tower, the highest tower of their school. He sprang out from his chair and onto his window. There was pin-drop silence as if there was nothing there. He again sat on his chair, back on his work. But consequently, he heard the screams every night. Every night it started the same, at the same time and ended the same, at the same time. He was concerned about what was going on there. So, after the term, at night he sneaked inside the school. He had never gone to that tower before as it was restricted to go up there. As he went up the tower, he saw a number of rooms. In front of a certain room he was seized with horror as inside the dark, locked room a dim light was oscillating like a pendulum. It was an old library. He tried to enter but it was locked and was jammed. So he was going to see another room when the lock suddenly broke to pieces and the door opened slightly. He was surprised and a little scared but went inside the library. As soon as he entered the room, there was a big flash of light and then a total blackout. Suddenly he started hearing voices of two men and the smell of tobacco. Then slowly the two men were visible to him. They were talking and then one got furious and shot the other one, an old man with a long beard. After that he let out a scream of pain, the scream was alike to the screams Peter was hearing, and fell on the ground. As soon as he fell his spirit got out of his body and grabbed the other man’s neck. He made him suffocate and he also died. After that the spirit came to Peter and said that he wanted to show someone about his death so that the school wouldn’t hate him as a person who took bribes for his own purpose. Then a blinding light flashed and Peter was back in his room and the ghost had disappeared. |
