STORY : 4 A GHOST COMPANION Dave was walking in the woods, fowl hunting, with his companion Phil. They were so engaged in it that it grew dark and they had gone far deep inside the woods. At nightfall they found themselves in the middle of the woods which had then grown denser. They searched for their hotel to go back and out of the woods as there were wild animals. They were desperately searching for a way out, but were actually going deeper inside. While they were searching for an EXIT, Phil wandered off somewhere, leaving Dave alone. After Dave had walked for some distance his leg started to ache. He sat down to rest and was wondering how to get out. While resting, he heard something as if someone was calling him by making noises. When he looked around he saw nothing. But when he walked towards two trees, he saw a glimpse of a man whom he thought of as Phil. He said, “Phil? Where had you gone to? I was searching for you. Do you know where to go to get to our hotel”? The figure didn’t reply, just nodded his head as a sign to follow him. Dave followed but was surprised to notice his companion’s strange silence. He asked him that where they were going, how they would get out of that forest, did he know the way to the hotel e.t.c. But there came no reply. After walking a distance, Dave was concerned about Phil’s strange behavior. So wanted to go and ask him what was wrong with him. So he flashed his torch on Phil but as soon as he flashed it, Phil disappeared. Dave searched all around for him but could not find him. Finally he saw some light at the corner of the trees. When he went to see what it was, he saw that it was his hotel. He quickly went in and searched for Phil. He found Phil in their room and asked him where he disappeared after he flashed his torch on him. Phil said that after he wandered off in the woods, he finally found the hotel. Then he wanted to go and find Dave but couldn’t as it was dark. Then Dave wondered that then who was the on who accompanied Dave. |
